SINGAPORE, 15 July 2019 - The countdown begins to National Day and to celebrate, VeganBurg is mixing it up and reinventing a traditional hawker meal with the launch of the National Day Meal. For a limited time only, the National Day Meal will be available for dine-in from 9 - 23 August 2019.

Chili crab has been enjoyed by locals and tourists alike for decades, and the delicious Chili Krab Burger combines everything Singaporeans love about the famous seafood dish plus an infusion of bespoke ingredients. The plant-based burger is piled with crispy-outside-and-fluffy-inside vegan shredded konjac “crab” meat patty, cholesterol-free sunny side up egg, farm-fresh hand-leafed romaine lettuce, authentic homemade chili crab sauce made from handcrafted rempah with chili padi, red chili and ginger - topped with fresh coriander. All of this scrumptious goodness is sandwiched between an artisan fiber-fueled wholemeal bun.

Alex Tan began his career in the fashion retail industry with at the age of 20, and during his five-year tenure with one of Singapore’s leading names in the market, Big City Fashion, he helped secure distributorships in Asia for well-known labels such as Doc Martens, Kipling, Yellow Cap and Johnston & Murphy. He was involved in sales & marketing, product development, merchandising and procurement, and saw the company grow from a startup, to a multi-million company.

Over a span of the next 13 years at TAK Products & Services Pte Ltd, a company specializing in interior surfaces, Alex undertook several high-level portfolios such as Director of Product Design & Development and Director of Sales & Marketing and he was instrumental in the consistent growth of the company from a headcount of just five employees to an annual group turnover in the hundreds of millions of dollars, with offices in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, China and distributors around the world. In 2001, Alex redefined high-pressure laminates and brought it to life with Lamitak, a leading brand which became a much-sought household name amongst architects and interior designers, distributed globally. Today, Alex sits on the board of TAK.

However, VeganBurg is where his heart lies and his passion most strong. The brand’s visionary, Alex is also a firm advocate for planet sustainability and conscious eating, Alex has been gone plant-based since 1995. He is very much a hands-on person and always makes it a point to know every aspect of running the business as well as every staff in the company. In 2014, compelled by the vision to make veganism mainstream, Alex moved his family to US to open the Haight Street store from scratch.
