Shaking things up in California

Singapore’s Plant-based Fast Food Joint Takes Burgers To A Whole New Level

SINGAPORE - In December 2015, the United States will be tasting one of Singapore’s best-kept secrets. After requests and consumer demand for delicious and indulgent comfort food, and at the same time sustainable, family-owned joint VeganBurg has finally announced plans to expand into the land of the hamburger. This is VeganBurg’s first expansion outside of its home base in Singapore. "As a proudly Singaporean born and bred company, we are very excited to embark on our new journey in the United States. We’re happy to belong to the Haight-Ashbury family, people from all over the world head to the district to experience the unique vibe. Americans now have the opportunity to complete their experience with a plant-based burger. Not only that, we are also a great complement to what Haight is known for, freedom, love, and revolution" says CEO Alex Tan. “We want to combine the Singapore entrepreneur spirits and our Singaporean steadfast business ethics with the USA. We chose the US as our first market mainly because it is a country that is leading the world in terms of change and revolution. Those 2 characteristics are the key ingredients in making a strong business venture” he added.

The brand founder, Tan leads a mission to inspire and excite the world to choose a plant-based diet as a means of planet restoration and as a way to combat California’s drought problem, all with the help of like-minded individuals and his family.“We can’t change the fast food system - but we can change what goes in it, the fastest way to reduce the effects of climate change is to replace beef patties with vegan patties”, Mr. Tan said. "Ideally, people should embrace a raw plant-based diet that is rich in raw and organic products which are optimal for health - we're focusing on filling the gap from where the nation is now in terms of food choices - and VeganBurg is the bridge towards that”, he added.

For their overseas debut, VeganBurg’s San Francisco store will be adding a dash of excitement to their menu by adding never before seen items like Kombucha from taps, classic all-American milkshakes, soft-serve ice creams, cheesecakes, and more.
